New products & nutraceuticals added Under Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana
Under the Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana, the Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) has introduced a range of new products, expanding their offerings to 1800 medicines and 285 Surgical Equipment. These additions include essential medicines like Dapagliflozin 10mg & Metformin Hydrochloride (Extended Release) 1000mg Tablets for Diabetes, as well as Jan Aushadhi Protein (High Protein) Powder and Jan Aushadhi Protein for Women (Whey Protein Powder).
PMBI, the implementing agency of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP), regularly evaluates market trends and incorporates medicines and nutraceuticals to be sold through Jan Aushadhi Kendras at affordable prices. In line with this, they have introduced new variants of diabetes medicines and various nutraceuticals to cater to the growing health concerns.
The Government's plan to establish 10,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras by 31st December 2023 is well underway, with 9512 Kendras already operational across the country as of 30th June 2023. The product basket of Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) comprises 1800 medicines and 285 Surgical Equipment and Consumables, available at significantly reduced prices ranging from 50% to 90% compared to the market rates.
To address the rising issue of diabetes and women's health, Jan Aushadhi has introduced the mentioned products, which are now available in select Jan Aushadhi Kendras nationwide.

Over the past 9 years, the number of Kendras has increased significantly, from just a few to 100 times the initial count, with sales surging more than 170 times. To reach the target of establishing 10,000 Kendras by 31st December 2023, Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) has invited applications from 651 districts across the country for opening Jan Aushadhi Kendras.
